Grades 1-4 are a stage of child development; children learn to interpret information in a more
sophisticated way. TAPS aims for students to become more fluent readers through our phonological
awareness and reading program. Students learn various types of genres, text features, characterization,
and retelling. The reading program encourages students to explore books of their choices during library
time. They can borrow materials that interest it. Students learn to use grade level vocabulary in writing to
develop their fluency in the English language. Students are taken through the entire writing process of
brainstorming, drafting and editing their own writing for submission. Throughout each term, students
engage in projects, competitions, and plays.
Our math program is using everyday situations to provide solutions through their understanding of
number sense, basic operations, measurement and geometry, data and probability and basic operations.
Throughout these grades, students are expected to develop problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and a
deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. Students at this stage become masters in addition,
subtraction, multiplication, division. They are challenged to solve multi-step problems and explore angles
of symmetry.
On the other hand, science at this stage, the curriculum aims to promote scientific inquiry, critical
thinking, and problem-solving skills. Students engage in hands-on experiments, observations, and
activities to develop their understanding of scientific concepts. They study the living systems,
ecosystems, Earth and space, and matter and energy. It is a time to learn about conservation practices and

health. Furthermore, science education often involves a combination of classroom instruction, laboratory
activities, and outdoor exploration. Students connect their discoveries and explanations to scientific
knowledge. The school provides state-of-the-art facilities for students and teachers to be fully engaged in
discovery.
